Playing with words

by Vanessa Lavoie
15 years old, Caisse populaire de Pintendre

Most students hate French class, especially when it comes to poetry. However, since the exception proves the rule, I love this subject and look forward to it every year. I especially love writing poetry. I discovered my passion for writing four years ago and now, i can't live without it! It is important to me that I put my emotions on paper because I have trouble communicating them, so writing helps me a lot.

Sometimes, I get discouraged and I have to stop writing because I can't find a rhyme. You will say that a poem doesn't necessarily have to rhyme by I believe poems are richer when they do. I get inspired mainly at night or before I go to bed, so I always have a pen and paper nearby.

There is a very small part of me in every word I write. Every important event, whether it is sad or not, has its every own poem.

Everyone needs a little corner of paradise in their life to feel better when things are not going well. My paradise is in my poetry. Where do you find yours?
