Interns at Desjardins

My future

Testimonials

It's hard to find a job when you don't have much experience. Desjardins understands this and is opening its doors to give you a chance to be a part of a dynamite team where you can acquire the skills you need for tomorrow.

Once you turn eighteen, you can apply for jobs that will prepare you for your future career.

Here's what interns who have taken advantage of this great opportunity at Fédération Desjardins have to say:

Nicolas - "I learned how to work in an environment that was both professional and friendly"
Jeffrey - "An internship in such a large company could only enrich my experience from all perspectives!"
Denis - "It takes more than a report card to measure skills, it takes the recognition of your peers and superiors."
Yu Lin - " ... the opportunity to experience an extremely exciting, professional milieu."
Judith - "This experience helped me find direction in my studies!"

Nicolas - "I learned how to work in an environment that was both professional and friendly"

My name is Nicolas and I'm 24 years old. I did an internship at Desjardins as part of my studies in multimedia integration techniques at Collège de Maisonneuve.

I joined the Desjardins.com team for six weeks and spent that time putting content on the Web site.

Given the size of the company, I was hardly surprised at the fact that I was carefully coached and supported in my work. What did surprise me was my team members' vitality and openness. These people were willing to listen and ready to give advice.

Thanks to the help I received from the Desjardins.com team, I learned how to work in an environment that was professional, and best of all, friendly.

Jeffrey - "An internship in such a large company could only enrich my experience from all perspectives!"

My name is Jeffrey, and I'm 21 years old.

After graduating from the Collège de Maisonneuve in multimedia techniques, I started freelancing at Desjardins thanks to an on-the-job internship.

At the end of my training at Collège de Maisonneuve, a 6-week internship became available at Desjardins. An internship in such a large company could only enrich my experience from all perspectives!

I was welcomed into a dynamic and well-qualified team in an environment with great team spirit. All the team members made themselves available at one point or another to contribute to my training, by allowing me to test out incredibly effective work methods.

Cutting edge technology was also made available to me (a wonderful range of tools!), which helped me familiarize myself with the environment of a multimedia integrator and get the most out of my internship.

Now I understand the prestigious company that is Desjardins a lot better, and each day I get more and more experience that will serve me wherever I go.

I ended my internship on a winning note: thanks to my ambition and perseverance, I was hired at Desjardins and really love my job.

Denis - "It takes more than a report card to measure skills, it takes the recognition of your peers and superiors."

My name is Denis and I'm 25 years old. Toward the end of my studies at Collège de Maisonneuve in multimedia integration techniques, I did an internship at Desjardins.

I did my six-week internship with the unit responsible for the Desjardins Web site, where I worked with a very exciting multidisciplinary team and was able to make practical use of what I'd learned in school. Even more important, I saw the inner workings of a large organization, something they can't teach in the classroom. I learned about the ways work units communicate with each other, daily operations, what it takes to see a major project or mandate through to completion, etc.

I took my internship very seriously and was determined to make the most of this exciting, new experience. I used the opportunity to learn as much as I possibly could and always contributed 100%. It was all worth it; I was hired on a freelance basis once I'd completed the internship.

I not only came away with a job, I also gained self-confidence -- that was the most important aspect of my Desjardins experience. Self-confidence, in my opinion, is our most important asset on the job market. It takes more than a report card to determine skills, it takes the recognition of your peers and superiors. This was amply demonstrated to me through the increasingly interesting and important tasks that were assigned to me. The six-week internship not only helped me complete my DEC, it also gave me a better understanding of the job market from the inside, and allowed me to grow and excel.

Yu Lin " ... the opportunity to experience an extremely exciting, professional milieu."

My name is Yu Lin and I'm 23 years old. I'm currently working with Desjardins.com and am part of the team that produces the best financial Web site in Québec and one of the best Web sites in Canada.

For me, working at Desjardins means joining an organization that has demonstrated that it is the leader in its field. Through the Desjardins program, I experienced, and continue to experience, an extremely exciting, professional milieu. Desjardins made me feel right at home and offered me a very interesting job at the end of my internship.

Desjardins offers excellent opportunities to young people who are motivated and appreciate a challenge. It also shows young people like me how to prevail!

Judith: "This experience helped me find direction in my studies!"

My name is Judith, I'm 18 years old and I'm a student at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Last term, I was doing an integrated diploma that includes human science, nature science, arts and literature. I've been working for Desjardins for 4 months as an automation clerk in several caisses in the Montréal area.

When I started out at Desjardins, I was going through a period of uncertainty regarding the program of study that interested me. Working at Desjardins showed me how much I loved working with people! I was able to work and enjoy myself at the same time, which led to the discovery that I was destined for a career in communications.

After I received the Focus training program, I arrived at the caisse fully equipped to approach the members in the right way. I successfully established relationships with them based on trust. Certain members were hesitant about using Desjardins automated services. I helped them get past that and when they tried they discovered how easy and effective automated services are. Now these people are using AccèsD and/or ATMs, but sometimes they come by the caisse to tell me about their experiences or just to say hi.

Whether I'm calling people on the phone or approaching them while they're waiting for the teller, my involvement is never the same from one time to the next. I personalize my approach because every member is unique! My work is full of interesting challenges!

Jacinthe: "A very enriching experience that broadened my horizons."

My name is Jacinthe Audet. I'm 22 years old and I'm taking a bachelor's degree in preschool/primary education at Sherbrooke University. This past summer I worked for Desjardins Group as an automation agent in caisses near where I live.

It was a very enriching experience that broadened my horizons. Teaching and the caisse work are directly related. The training I got improved my listening and comprehension skills and my approach. Not only did these skills help me do my work but they also helped me communicate more effectively with the people around me. Becoming a good speaker is essential in my field of study because every day I have to talk to students, teachers and parents. This job helped me get to know my strengths and areas of improvement and develop the skills I need in both my professional and personal life.

The work was very interesting: it wasn't routine. Each day I would meet caisse members and tell them about the new options the Desjardins caisses were offering.

Desjardins caisses offer a great opportunity for young people!
