Desjardins and the David Suzuki Foundation present the 2nd edition of the Winter Summit (Sommet de l'hiver)

The 2nd edition of the Winter Summit (Sommet de l'hiver) will be held from January 27 to 29, 2012, as part of the 58th edition of the Carnaval de Québec. This David Suzuki Foundation initiative, presented by Desjardins Group, is an event to raise awareness about the effects of climate change on our winter season and Quebec culture.

On January 16, 2012, during the launch of the Summit at Quebec City’s Hôtel de Glace, Pauline D'Amboise, Secretary General and Vice-President of Cooperative Support at Desjardins Group, expressed Desjardins' continued and strong support of the Foundation's operations since is has been in Quebec. "We support the David Suzuki Foundation because of its tangible contributions to scientific research and its practical, scientific way of explaining sustainable development issues, including climate change," she states. "This partnership is based on common values and the belief that knowledge and education raise awareness and lead to changes in behaviour. We believe that people and communities must empower themselves to support people- and environment-friendly sustainable prosperity."

The summit will consist of 3 flagship events:

  • January 27, 2012: Half-day of free scientific lectures at Centre des congrès. Make a reservation to attend the free lectures (website in French only).
  • January 28, 2012: Gala des merveilles d'hiver event at Musée de la civilisation. Buy tickets for Gala des merveilles d'hiver (website in French only).
