Death coverage – Accelerated Savings (Universal Life)

Coverage that provides both insurance and a savings component which allows you to accumulate funds on a tax-exempt basis more quickly than other comparable plans on the market.

Features

• In the event of death, benefit and accumulated savings are payable to beneficiaries tax-free.
• Coverage amount: $250,000 and up when taking out the policy (based on a needs analysis carried out by a financial security advisor¹).
• You can get coverage for a set period to meet specific needs or for your lifetime.
• The same Vision contract Death coverage features are also available for universal life.
• Many investment options available (daily interest, fixed-rate or market-linked investments).
• Funds may be withdrawn or transferred from one investment to another with no administrative fees. Withdrawals are usually subject to income taxes. With the Health Withdrawal Option, however, you can make withdrawals tax-free if you:
  • are convalescing
  • are totally disabled
  • have undergone surgery
  • have been diagnosed with a critical illness as defined by the contract
• Option of jointly insuring 2 to 5 people with joint insurance. Savings amount is then paid out tax-free to survivor at the first death.
• Available to individuals aged 0 to 75.
• Cost of insurance (life and health) varies according to coverage selected and personal factors (age, gender, smoker or non-smoker, general health, etc.).

• Very beneficial if you want your policy to be fully paid up after only a few payments (e.g.: in a single premium or payment over 2 or 3 years, etc.)
• A good tax shelter option if you have maxed out your RRSP.
• You may add insureds to your contract as well as additional Vision coverages such as disability, critical illness, health and loss of independence insurance.
• You benefit from other Vision contract advantages such as basic coverages and complimentary access to some of the following GPS Program assistance services at no extra charge: Convalescence Assistance – referrals, Legal Assistance, Estate Settlement Assistance et Travel Assistance.
