Define your project

This is the most important step in your project. You must start off convinced that your business will be viable and have a strong future. To this end, you must do a market study as well as a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the clientele you want to serve.

Here are some questions that can help you research your potential market. Feel free to visit the site of the Association des centre locaux de développement du Québec if you have additional questions about your particular region.

Qualitative questions

  • What products or services do I want to sell?
  • What is an appropriate price range?
  • Who are my customers?
  • Who are my competitors?
  • What sets me apart from the competition?
  • What geographic area does my business serve?
  • What is my targeted customer profile?

Quantitative questions

Now that you have an idea of our business environment and who your potential customers are, you'll need to assess your sales potential by getting some important numbers.

  • How many potential customers are you likely to have for your products or services in your targeted area?
  • How many competitors are there in your area?
  • What average transaction amount are you aiming for?
  • What approximate market share would your company have compared to the competition?
