Desjardins Credit Union [Change site]
All Canadian dollar deposits you make at Desjardins Credit Union are insured up to $100,000 by the Deposit Insurance Corporation in Ontario (DICO).
Established by the Credit Union and Caisse Populaires Act, DICO protects depositors by insuring their deposits in Ontario credit unions and caisses populaires for up to $100,000.
Some deposits are protected by separate guarantees, as is the case for joint deposits, trust deposits, and deposits held in registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs), registered retirement income funds (RRIFs) and registered education savings plans (RESPs).
The insurance, however, does not cover mutual funds or other investment vehicles whose value and returns fluctuate depending on market performance, such as stocks, bonds and Treasury Bills, to name a few.
