Q. What insurance comes with my VISA Desjardins Odyssey GOLD card?
A. As a VISA Desjardins Odyssey GOLD cardholder, you and those traveling with you (spouse and dependant children) benefit from the following insurance coverage, regardless of the number of trips you take during the year:
- medical and paramedical insurance outside your province of residence up to $5,000,000 per person valid for 15 to 48 days depending on your age;
- Trip cancellation coverage up to $2,000 per person;
- Unlimited coverage for trip interruption, should your trip be cut short or prolonged;
- Baggage coverage of up to $500 per insured person against losses due to theft, damages or delayed luggage;
- Common Carrier Accident Coverage up to $1,000,000 in the event of accidental death or dismemberment while using public transportation;
- Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Coverage for up to 48 consecutive days;
- Purchase Protection and Extended Warranty Plans;
To get the full range of coverage offered with the VISA Desjardins Odyssey GOLD card, your tickets or car rental have to be charged to your VISA Desjardins Odyssey GOLD card.

Q. I have 3-day Travel Insurance with my VISA Desjardins card. What’s the coverage? If I leave my province for more than 3 days, am I still covered for the first 3 days of my trip?
A. As a VISA Desjardins cardholder, you are entitled to 3-Day Travel Insurance free of charge and with no restrictions in terms of the destination for any trips of 3 days or less outside of your province of residence. Regardless of the number of trips you take during the year, your VISA Desjardins card entitles you and anyone traveling with you (spouse and dependent children) to the following coverage:
- Emergency Health Care
- Trip Cancellation
- Baggage
- Accident
Please note that your spouse and dependent children are only covered if they travel with you.
To request additional coverage before you leave for any trip longer than three days, contact Desjardins Financial Security at 1-800-463-7845. You will get free coverage for the first 3 days of your trip, regardless of the plan you choose. Only the insurance plans you extend will be in effect for the first 3 days of your trip.

Q. What coverage is offered with Accirance?
A. Accirance provides coverage to protect you from the financial consequences of an accident, anytime and anywhere in the world.
- Helps you meet your significant financial obligations following a serious accident, such as the costs of refitting your home.
- Complements the provincial health insurance plan and your group insurance plan at work.
- Insures your children automatically 15 days after their birth under your Accirance contract if an Accirance contract is already in force.
- Entitles policyholders to free access to telephone assistance services.

Q. What coverage is offered by Credit Balance Insurance – Individuals?
A. Credit Balance Insurance - Individuals covers at least the minimum payment of your VISA Desjardins card in case of involuntary loss of employment, dismemberment, critical illness or death.

Q. I have a Visa Desjardins Prestige card. Do I have any insurance if I rent a car?
A. Your VISA Desjardins Prestige card provides Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance for up to 48 consecutive days, if the rental is charged to your VISA Desjardins card and you decline the equivalent coverage offered by the rental company.
However, third-party liability coverage is not included. It is advisable to check with your personal auto insurance policy to see if third-party liability insurance will cover you in the event of an accident involving a rented automobile. If required, you can subscribe to this insurance with the car rental company.

A. VISA Desjardins Prestige cards offer you 2 coverages for items purchased with your VISA card.
Purchase Protection
Most goods purchased anywhere in the world are replaced or reimbursed up to $50,000 in the 90 days following purchase in the event of loss, theft, damage or fire.
Extended Warranty
Doubles written Canadian manufacturer's warranty of five years or less for up to one year on nearly all goods purchased.

A. As a VISA Desjardins FOR STUDENTS ONLY cardholder, you can get Cell Phone Insurance that will cover up to $200 if your cell phone is lost or stolen (a $25 deductible applies).
To get coverage:
- Set up automatic payment of your cell phone bill with your credit card company. When you make a claim, you will be required to present proof of payment (3 months for the first claim and 12 months for the second).
- Purchase your new cell phone with your VISA Desjardins FOR STUDENTS ONLY card.
