Desjardins Group teams up with Climate Project Canada

Someone who knows and understands a phenomenon is someone who is ready to act

Lévis (Québec), September 28, 2009 – Desjardins Group is proud to team up with a partner like Climate Project Canada, and as such be an active part in raising awareness amongst its fellow citizens on the importance of finding solutions to curb and adapt to climate changes.

Climate changes are a leading social issue for Desjardins, which has been making specific efforts over the past few years to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment and to rally its members, clients, employees and elected officers to follow suit. According to Desjardins, someone who knows and understands a phenomenon is someone who is ready to act. That is why Desjardins thinks it is important to raise awareness among its various stakeholders to collectively find ways to face climate changes.

The impact of this phenomenon is global, from health to the environment, through all sectors of the economy. Among other things, climate change has been formally identified as a direct cause of damage on property. For that reason, Desjardins, through its general insurance sector, will be closely associated to the support and transmission of this project. This partnership is a concrete follow-up on one of the prior commitments of Desjardins to the Kyoto Protocol's objectives.
