Desjardins and the Knowlton Festival: Classical Music in an Enchanting Setting

Lévis, August 5, 2009 – Desjardins Group is proud to sponsor the Knowlton Festival, taking place from August 4 to 16, 2009. This event, under the artistic direction of Maestro Kent Nagano, welcomes the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) in summer residence as well as numerous guest artists of international renown.

The evening of music by Brahms, performed by the OSM and presented by Desjardins, will begin at 8 p.m. on August 8 and feature guest tenor Ben Heppner, one of the most sought-after opera singers in the world.

“Desjardins is pleased to be involved in this new festival which is offering a truly exceptional program, combining Brahms’ work and opera. It’s a rare treat of operatic and symphonic music, not to be missed, all in the beautiful Lac Brome countryside,” enthuses Richard Lacroix, Regional Vice-President for the Eastern Townships, Desjardins Group.

To make travel easier and in the interest of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through group transport, the Desjardins shuttle will be made available to festival-goers. They will be able to travel right to the festival entrance from Complexe Desjardins in Montréal – situated at the corner of Bleury and Boulevard René Lévesque – on Friday and Saturday, August 7 and 8, for the price of a $15 return ticket.

This collaboration demonstrates once again Desjardins’ mission to support education and improve accessibility to cultural events.
