Fondation Desjardins

Did you know that the private foundation that distributes the most university scholarships in Quebec is part of the Desjardins Group?

Founded in 1970 with the surplus earnings of the caisse populaire located on the former site of Expo 67, Fondation Desjardins earmarks around $700,000 a year on scholarship programs, research awards and grants, 70% of which goes to university students in all fields.

The foundation offers many types of financial support, primarily to youths 18 to 30 years of age, for trade or vocational school, to go back to school for non-university level studies or for any skills-building project. In addition, it supports entrepreneurship activities aimed at job creation and gives out the "Prix annuels Desjardins" annual awards to organizations actively involved in improving their communities.
