Immigrate with the Immigrant Investor Program

The Immigrant Investor Program offers business people and their families the opportunity to immigrate to Canada, while contributing to the expansion of this country's vibrant economy. Guaranteed by the Government, it allows immigrants to obtain an unconditional visa, permanent residence, and, ultimately, Canadian citizenship.

Program eligibility

To qualify for the program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Have worldwide net assets of at least $800,000 CAD acquired lawfully
  • Have management experience
  • Undertake to make a passive investment of $400,000 CAD for a 5-year term (or limit their down payment through the Desjardins Golden Plan).

Economic development

The mandatory $400,000 CAD deposit is invested in a term note guaranteed by the Government of Quebec. A significant portion of the interest earned on the investment is paid out to eligible Quebec enterprises in the form of grants. In this way, investors contribute to the economic development of society and job creation.

Fully secured investment

Because the Immigrant Investor Program is structured and guaranteed by the Government, investors are ensured that 100% of their investment will be fully reimbursed at the end of the 5-year term. The program is thus risk-free.

The Desjardins program: unparalleled advantages

The Golden Plan

If you do not wish to liquidate your assets to come up with the $400,000 CAD mandatory investment, the Desjardins Golden Plan is the ideal financing plan for you. Thanks to the plan, you can:

  • Limit your down payment to as little as $120,000 CAD and still meet all the requirements of the Immigrant Investor Program;
  • Obtain a better overall return on the funds you did not have to transfer to come up with the mandatory investment and could be invested in other investment vehicles.

Scholarships

Each year, bursaries are awarded to immigrant investors or to one of their family members. To be eligible, candidates must have permanent resident status, be enrolled in a Quebec university and be a full-time student at the bachelor's, masters or Ph.D. level. Candidates can submit their application from March to May of each year.

A complete range of financial services

Immigrants usually have poor access to financial services if they do not have an established credit history in Canada. For this reason, Desjardins can offer several pre-approved products: Gold credit card, mortgage loans, etc.
