Développement international Desjardins

The growing international role of Développement international Desjardins (DID) proves that the expertise of Desjardins employees in matters of cooperation and financial services is recognized worldwide.

DID specializes in technical support and investment in the community finance sector in developing countries. Through its various types of involvement, aims to empower the disadvantaged people in developing or transition countries by encouraging local ownership and control of financial institutions which have an impact in the community.

When a microfinance institution is set up, a door is opened for the local population. A door that provides access to new and tangible opportunities: making secure savings deposits, obtaining a loan for a project, however modest, paying school fees for the children or buying medicine for a relative, etc. DID accepts mandates and receives financial support from organizations like the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the World Bank and many United Nations (UN) agencies.
