Raymond Laurin is a Chartered Accountant and holds a bachelor's degree in administration from HEC. He began his career as an Auditor at Coopers & Lybrand in 1971. In 1974, he joined the Cablevision Nationale (“Videotron”) team as a top business manager until 1980.
As a member of Desjardins Group senior management, Raymond Laurin was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Caisse centrale Desjardins on July 28, 2008 and Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Desjardins Group on May 9, 2008. He is responsible for performance management, governance, and total financial disclosure of this integrated financial group that has assets exceeding $149.8 billion. He is also the functional director of the Desjardins Group Retirement Committee (DGRC), the DGRC Investment Committee, and the DGRC Audit, Professional Practices and Compliance Committee (close to $5.5 billion in assets).
Mr. Laurin joined Desjardins in 1980 and, for the past 28 years, has held many different executive positions. He worked for 10 years at Caisse centrale Desjardins, 2 years at Sécur Inc. He also held different strategic positions at the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec, notably as the Executive Director of the Desjardins Group Pension Plan.
Mr. Laurin is a member of the Strategic Management Structure Committee and the Desjardins Group Integrated Risk Management Committee. He sits, as an observer, on the boards of directors and audit committees of the Fédération des caisses Desjardins and its subsidiaries.
In addition, Mr. Laurin presently sits on the boards of directors, audit committees and strategic advisory committees of the main partners of the Desjardins Group Pension Plan.
