Monique F. Leroux

Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group

On March 15, 2008, Monique F. Leroux was elected to the office of President of Desjardins Group for a four-year mandate beginning on March 29, 2008.

Monique F. Leroux held the title of Chief Financial Officer of Desjardins Group in August 2004. As such, she sat on the Strategic Management Structure Committee and was responsible for establishing the financial framework, setting and tracking performance management and the capital of Desjardins Group. Ms. Leroux also managed relations with credit rating agencies and institutional investors. She was an observer on the Board of Directors of the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec as well as a delegate on all subsidiary boards.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Leroux was President of Desjardins Financial Corporation and Chief Executive Officer of the Subsidiaries, that is Desjardins Financial Security (personal insurance), Desjardins General Insurance Group (damage insurance), Desjardins Specialized Financial Management Services (trust and investment fund services), and Desjardins Asset Management, where she was Division Manager and Administrator.

Before joining Desjardins Group, Ms. Leroux was Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Quebecor Inc. and Senior Vice-President, Quebec Division of RBC Royal Bank. She was also Associate Director of Québec Financial Services at Ernst & Young.

Ms. Leroux sits on the boards of several organizations, including the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), Siparex Group (France), HEC Montréal, the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. She was also President of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
