Germain Carrière

President and Chief Operating Officer of Desjardins Securities

Germain Carrière earned a law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Barreau du Québec and the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

Mr. Carrière boasts an impressive track record in the securities field, where he has been working for nearly 30 years. After joining the Lévesque Beaubien team in 1979 as Vice-President, Corporate Finance, he was appointed Senior Vice-President, Individual Investor Services (1983) and then Executive Vice-President, Individual Investor Services (1989). In 1995, he assumed the position of Senior Executive Vice-President, Individual Investor Services and Information Technology. He was then promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer, Individual Investor Services of National Bank Financial (1999) and, in 2002, became Vice Chairman of the Board, Corporate Strategy, until the end of July 2005, when he became President and Chief Operating Officer of Desjardins Securities.
