Bertrand Laferrière

Bertrand Laferrière was born in Joliette on May 10, 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Economics from Université de Montréal in 1978. He continued his education by studying administration at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and taking courses at the Canadian Securities Institute.

He began working for Desjardins Group in 1979, at the Fédération du Centre du Québec (Trois-Rivières). He stayed there for more than 17 years, occupying various positions. Then he was General Manager of the Fédération des caisses populaires Desjardins de Lanaudière from September 1995 to April 2000.

Mr. Laferrière is involved in the community on several levels, notably with economic, recreational and educational organizations.

On July 1, 2001, Mr. Laferrière was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec. This task demands that he invest considerable energy to support this crucial business shift for Desjardins, an organization about which Mr. Laferrière is passionate.
