Apply for this bursary
Before filling out the application form - Mandatory procedure
Before filling out the Fondation Desjardins bachelor's level bursary application form, you must first go to the Quebec government Aide financière aux études website and do the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec
loan and bursary application simulation.
To do a loan and bursary application simulation, simply click on "Calculator" on the left hand side of the page. Enter your estimated expenses for the year ahead. The financial assistance assessment tool will give you an idea of the amount you can
obtain in loans and bursaries for the academic year. Caution: the software does not permit you to change the year, so please ignore the year displayed.
Send 2 copies of these documents to Fondation Desjardins:
(either the original and a photocopy or 2 photocopies)
- Your Fondation Desjardins bachelor's level bursary application form, completed legibly, on a computer, with a minimum 10 point font1.
- Transcripts from the last three quarters2.
- A copy of the loan and bursary application simulation done using the Quebec government Aide financière aux études website calculator (if you are not eligible or the result is nil (0), please indicate why on the form).
- The Aide financière aux études "Full-time assessment" slip (if you've already received financial aid).
- A letter of interest approximately 20 lines long describing your career plans and why you think the panel should award you a bursary.
First-year bachelor's level students must indicate which university they would like to attend.
Please ensure the print quality and legibility of all documents, including photocopies, is adequate to facilitate the processing of your application. Fondation Desjardins will not accept applications submitted by fax.
1. Submitting an incomplete application to Fondation Desjardins may cause the applicant not to be considered.
2. If you have not completed your college-level studies, please attach a transcript (the original and a photocopy) of your grades for the last 3 quarters. It is also mandatory that you calculate your
grade point average by adding together all your grades, including failing grades, and dividing the result by the number of courses taken.
Persons with permanent resident status must:
- enclose a photocopy of their permanent resident card;
- if they have not yet studied in Canada, provide documents showing equivalent studies in their country of origin;
- attach 1 or 2 pages describing:
- their integration objectives in Quebec (academic, economic, family, social and regional);
- what they have already done to reach these objectives;
- the way in which they are experiencing their adaptation to the university (new pedagogical approach), the climate and Quebec culture;
- what they have already done to facilitate their integration into their new environment;
- their career plans and why they think the panel should award them a bursary. This document would replace the letter of interest described above.
