Fondation Desjardins bursaries

The Fondation Desjardins is dedicated to providing financial support to young people throughout Quebec and Ontario regions who are starting or pursuing:

  • university studies
  • a professional training or labour market access program
  • enterprise development.

Since the creation of Fondation Desjardins, some 8,000 young people have received nearly $10 million in bursaries.

Bursaries to pursue a university education
The Fondation awards 150 academic scholarships of $1,250 each, payable in 2 equal instalments in the spring and winter sessions. They are awarded based on the financial needs and academic excellence of applicants.
To be eligible, applicants must reside in Quebec and be Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status. Once the selected applicant accepts the bursary, he or she must prove full-time enrolment in a university program at the master's or doctoral level.
To provide financial aid of $25,000 or $15,000 (depending on the case) spread over two years or $7,500 for one year to students already enrolled at the postgraduate level and whose research projects deal with the environment and society or cooperation.
The University of Ottawa, Laurentian University, La Cité collégiale, the University of Guelph's Collège d'Alfred and the Collège Boréal have bursary funds dedicated to Ontario students.
Achievement awards for young researchers awards $5,000 grants to young researchers and the Fondation Desjardins awards six achievement awards of $1,000 each to students completing an MBA. These bursaries are offered in Quebec only.

Career management bursaries
Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status, residing in Quebec or a member of a caisse populaire de l'Ontario. Once the selected applicant accepts the bursary, he or she must prove full-time enrolment in a university program.
The Dorimène Bursaries are exclusively for women and fall under two categories: the Executive Woman and the Back to School bursaries. To be eligible, applicants must be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status and either reside in Quebec or be a member of a caisse populaire de l'Ontario.
The Fondation Desjardins awards five training bursaries to employees of the Desjardins Group: Three $2,500 bursaries for students at the bachelor's level and two $3,500 bursaries for students at the master's or doctorate level in a recognized university.
This prize is exclusively for Desjardins caisse elected officers who are young intern officers and elected officers under 35 years of age.

Others
This program is for young people ages 18 to 30 who live in Quebec or are members of a Desjardins caisse in Ontario and wish to take technical, professional, art or refresher courses; take non-university courses; acquire instructional or professional equipment; carry out a personal project, particularly with a view to acquiring new skills; acquire international experience that provides benefits to Canada.
Achievement award to Secondary V students: the Fondation awards $1,000 grants to young researchers. These prizes are offered in Quebec only.
